OpenStat by Bill Miller is a general-purpose statistics package that you can download and install for free. It was originally written as an aid in the teaching of statistics to the students enrolled in a social science program. It has been expanded to provide procedures useful in a wide variety of disciplines.

Zotero is an easy-to-use yet powerful research tool that helps you gather, organize, and analyze sources (citations, full texts, web pages, images, and other objects), and lets you share the results of your research in a variety of ways. An extension to the popular open-source web browser Firefox, Zotero includes the best parts of older reference manager software (like EndNote) - the ability to store author, title, and publication fields and to export that information as formatted references - and the best parts of modern software and web applications (like iTunes and del.icio.us), such as the ability to interact, tag, and search in advanced ways. Zotero integrates tightly with online resources; it can sense when users are viewing a book, article, or other object on the web, and - on many major research and library sites - find and automatically save the full reference information for the item in the correct fields. Since it lives in the web browser, it can effortlessly transmit information to, and receive information from, other web services and applications; since it runs on one’s personal computer, it can also communicate with software running there (such as Microsoft Word). And it can be used offline as well (e.g., on a plane, in an archive without WiFi).

PSPP is a program for statistical analysis of sampled data. It is a Free replacement for the proprietary program SPSS, and appears very similar to it with a few exceptions.
The most important of these exceptions are, that there are no “time bombs”; your copy of PSPP will not “expire” or deliberately stop working in the future. Neither are there any artificial limits on the number of cases or variables which you can use. There are no additional packages to purchase in order to get “advanced” functions; all functionality that PSPP currently supports is in the core package.
PSPP can perform descriptive statistics, T-tests, linear regression and non-parametric tests. Its backend is designed to perform its analyses as fast as possible, regardless of the size of the input data.
You can use PSPP with its graphical interface or the more traditional syntax commands.

Die Fachstelle Externe Schulevaluation ist im Zentrum Bildungsorganisation und Schulqualität an der Pädagogischen Hochschule der Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW angesiedelt. Sie ist Teil des Instituts Forschung und Entwicklung, das sich aus insgesamt fünf Forschungs- und Entwicklungszentren zusammensetzt. Die Fachstelle Externe Schulevaluation wurde im Auftrag des Kantons Aargau aufgebaut mit dem Ziel, für den Kanton Aargau und optional für den gesamten Bildungsraum Nordwestschweiz die externe Schulevaluation an den Volksschulen durchzuführen. Das Zentrum Bildungsorganisation und Schulqualität bearbeitet innerhalb seines Dienstleistungsschwerpunktes Schulqualität vor allem Fragen der Qualitätsevaluation und des Qualitätsmanagements von Schulen und anderen Bildungseinrichtungen. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Durchführung von datengestützten Evaluationen zur Qualitätsbeurteilung von Bildungsprozessen und Bildungsinstitutionen. Neben der Durchführung von externen Schulevaluationen stehen vor allem die Arbeitsschwerpunkte * Evaluationsprojekte, * Evaluationen innerhalb der Pädagogischen Hochschule der FHNW, * Entwicklung von Instrumenten zur schulischen Leistungsmessung, * Weiterbildungskurse im Vordergrund.
