The Uganda Technology And Management University in partnership with the Centre for Evaluation (CEval) in Germany is running a Masters programme in Monitoring and Evaluation.
It is a two year programme which was designed to enable students have a comprehensive set of knowledge, skills and competencies essential for a 21st century project planning, monitoring and evaluation expert.
It was developed to equip participants both in the public and private sectors with broader knowledge and skills in evaluation practices and to also enable them upgrade their studies without compromising their work schedules.
The programme covers basic paradigms, principles, concepts, approaches and methods used in Monitoring and Evaluation. It is intended to produce monitoring and evaluation experts with public management skills and competencies in making critical decisions that affect delivery of public services at all levels. It also aims at imparting up-to date knowledge, skills and competencies in evaluation of government and non-governmental projects, policies and programmes for efficient delivery of services.
The programme consists of two parts: a coursework part and a dissertation component. Both parts are compulsory to all students. The coursework consists of 12 compulsory taught courses grouped into core foundational courses (6), methodology courses (3) interdisciplinary courses (3) selected from a range of electives. The student is free to undertake more than 3 interdisciplinary courses.
